Authorities in Emporia have confirmed that Darrell Bontrager, aged 78, lost his life along with 73-year-old Terry Bontrager in a deadly explosion at their home on East Sixth Avenue.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 18, at the couple’s residence, and was reported in an official statement released by the Emporia Police Department on June 20.

Investigators say there is currently no evidence suggesting any criminal activity was involved in the blast.

The families of Darrell and Terry Bontrager have requested privacy as they cope with the sudden and tragic loss.
