The Canyon County Coroner has identified the individual who died while in police custody on June 14 as 68-year-old Donald Teeter Jr., a resident of Caldwell.

 

Emergency responders were called after efforts to revive Teeter Jr. at the scene proved unsuccessful. He was declared dead on site.

 

The Nampa Police Department is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Teeter Jr.’s death. The coroner’s office stated it will not be releasing further details.

 

According to earlier information from KTVB, Caldwell Police were dispatched late Saturday night following reports of a man displaying erratic behavior and threatening to leap from a third-floor balcony. The man, later identified as Teeter Jr., was reportedly suffering from an unspecified medical emergency.

 

Officers, in coordination with fire personnel, subdued him using physical restraint and placed him in handcuffs. He became unresponsive soon after being restrained.

 

Authorities immediately removed the handcuffs and began emergency medical efforts, but Teeter Jr. did not recover.

 

In a statement, the department acknowledged the gravity of the incident, expressing condolences to the victim’s family and pledging openness and responsibility throughout the investigation process.
