Fatal Nashville crash death of Dorothy Dobbins

Country musician Conner Smith has withdrawn from two scheduled performances, including Buckeye Country Superfest in Columbus and a concert in Akron, following his involvement in a deadly collision that occurred earlier this month in Nashville, Tennessee.

The accident, which took place on June 8, resulted in the death of 77-year-old Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins. According to Nashville Metro Police, Dobbins was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 24-year-old Smith as she was using a marked crosswalk on 3rd Avenue North around 7:30 p.m. in the Germantown neighborhood.

Authorities stated that Dobbins, a longtime local resident and retired attorney with over four decades of legal practice in Nashville, was walking her dog at the time of the incident. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but succumbed to her injuries. Police did not provide information on the condition of the dog.

Investigators said Smith was not impaired but failed to yield the right of way to Dobbins. As of June 20, the investigation remained open, and no charges had been filed.

A statement from Smith’s legal team acknowledged the tragedy, expressing deep condolences to Dobbins’ family and confirming Smith’s full cooperation with the investigation.

Smith was also scheduled to perform on June 20 at the Firestone Country Club in Akron as part of a concert following the Kauling Companies Championship, but he has also stepped back from that appearance. His team cited a need for private time to reflect on the recent events and thanked fans for their support.

Organizers of the Buckeye Superfest announced on June 16 that Smith would not be appearing and would be replaced by country artist Vincent Mason.

Earlier in June, Smith had participated in the CMA Fest in Nashville, performing on one of its ten stages. Booking fees for Smith reportedly begin in the range of $25,000 to $39,999 according to Celebrity Talent International.
