Fatal Chesapeake crash death of Edward M. Gaye
Edward M. Gaye, 52, a resident of Norfolk, was identified as the man who lost his life in a crash on Military Highway in Chesapeake.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night in the 2600 block of Military Highway when a Toyota Sienna, driven by 28-year-old Victoria Pipkin, struck a stopped vehicle on the right shoulder shortly after 11:20 p.m. Gaye was outside the stopped vehicle at the time and was fatally hit.
Two others were injured in the collision—another person outside the vehicle with Gaye and a passenger inside the stopped vehicle—both were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Pipkin was hospitalized and subsequently released but was then taken into custody at Chesapeake City Jail. She faces charges including involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence, and is being held without bond.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
