Fatal Long Beach semi truck crash death of Lihuan Wu
Lihuan Wu, a 47-year-old semi truck driver, lost his life Wednesday morning in Long Beach after being struck by another semi while standing outside his vehicle.
The deadly crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. along the 2600 block of Pier T Avenue, where Long Beach police officers responded to a collision report.
Before officers arrived, Long Beach Fire Department paramedics were already at the scene attempting life-saving measures, but Wu was declared dead at the location.
Investigators determined that Wu had parked his semi along the south curb of Pier T Avenue and exited the vehicle, positioning himself near its engine compartment.
Authorities reported that the impact of the second truck caused Wu to fall, after which he was run over by his own semi.
The other driver involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with the ongoing investigation, according to police.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner officially confirmed Wu’s identity on Friday.
