Steven Ballinger dies in fatal Santa Fe bicycle crash

Steven Ballinger, 42, was identified as the cyclist who lost his life following a collision in Santa Fe on Wednesday night.

Ballinger was biking near the intersection of Cerrillos Road and St. Michael’s Drive at approximately 8:20 p.m. when a vehicle struck him.

Emergency responders rushed Ballinger to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver involved remained on site and fully cooperated with the Santa Fe Police Department.

Following the incident, authorities shut down the crash area to investigate and reopened it around 1 a.m.

The Santa Fe Police Department’s traffic unit is continuing to look into what caused the accident and whether the driver will face charges.
