The operator, confirmed by Oregon State Police as Beau Douglas Gibney, aged 36, from Sisters, succumbed to his injuries immediately at the crash location, despite resuscitation attempts. The passenger, identified as a 34-year-old woman from Bend, endured severe trauma and was airlifted to a medical facility for treatment.

Oregon State Police indicated that excessive speed and potential impairment are factors under investigation for the crash.
