A 42-year-old woman identified as Laura Huerta of Streamwood died Saturday afternoon after her vehicle was struck by another car, according to authorities.

Cook County officials confirmed that the victim, Laura Huerta, was operating a 2008 Toyota when it was hit head-on by a 2007 BMW at the intersection of East Schaumburg Road and Timber Trail.

Emergency services were dispatched by the Streamwood Police Department around 3:37 p.m. to the accident location.

Preliminary findings from local law enforcement indicate that Ms. Huerta was attempting to make a left turn into Schaumburg Road from Timber Trail when the collision occurred. The BMW, traveling eastbound on Schaumburg Road, struck her vehicle.

Paramedics provided emergency care, but Ms. Huerta, who was alone in the Toyota, was pronounced deceased at St. Alexius Medical Center at approximately 4:50 p.m. No other individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries.

The intersection faced closure for several hours as police investigators, supported by the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (S.T.A.R.) team, worked diligently at the site. They were gathering evidence related to the incident.
