Fatal Peoria shooting death of Teron Scott Jr.
Teron Scott Jr., age 20, was identified as the victim killed in a deadly shooting early Friday morning in Peoria, Illinois. Authorities located Scott around 2:41 a.m. inside a vehicle that had collided with a tree in Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, an autopsy confirmed that Scott had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head, resulting in his immediate death.
Another individual, a 19-year-old male, was also injured in the incident. He sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was taken to the hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
Peoria police noted that the vehicle in which Scott was found had been hit by multiple gunshots. The aftermath of the shooting led to a crash that caused extensive damage to the car.
Detectives investigating the case developed leads that pointed to 20-year-old Christopher P. Adams as a suspect. Adams was apprehended without resistance at around 9 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of SW Adams Street by members of the Special Investigations Unit.
He was brought to the Peoria Police Department for questioning and later arrested for First Degree Murder. Adams is now being held at the Peoria County Jail as the investigation continues.
