They shared how she had worked tirelessly to provide for her 8-year-old granddaughter, who lives in El Salvador.

Community members are now rallying together to raise funds in order to return Amaya’s remains to her family in Central America. Her sister, speaking publicly for the first time, expressed heartbreak over the sudden and violent loss.
