Fatal Upland, California crash death of Jesus Guillen Jr., Joel Jeremiah Silva and Michael Adrian Gomez
Jesus Guillen Jr., Joel Jeremiah Silva and Michael Adrian Gomez were among four individuals who lost their lives in an early morning crash in Upland, California, after a high-speed pursuit ended tragically.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies in Rancho Cucamonga attempted to pull over a suspected DUI driver, but the vehicle fled. The chase carried into Upland, where the fleeing car collided head-on with a white Ford Mustang at the intersection of West 16th Street and North Mountain Avenue.
Authorities confirmed that Jesus Guillen Jr. and Joel Jeremiah Silva, both 16-year-olds from Fontana, and 17-year-old Michael Adrian Gomez from Pomona were killed on impact. A fourth occupant in the fleeing vehicle also died at the scene.
A 13‑year‑old boy, another passenger in the pursued vehicle, survived and was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Two occupants of the Mustang were transported to the hospital as a precaution but were expected to recover.
Investigators revealed the fleeing vehicle was a stolen 2018 Hyundai and that deputies found a loaded firearm inside. The collision was so severe the suspect’s car was split into multiple sections and struck a pole, scattering debris across the intersection.
Both San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga sheriff’s deputies, along with Ontario PD’s air support, took part in the short-lived pursuit, which lasted approximately six to seven minutes before the fatal impact.
The crash remains under active investigation as officials work to piece together the sequence of events and the identities of the deceased, who were all male.
