Fatal El Paso shooting death of Jose Jesus Gonzalez Jr.

El Paso authorities have officially identified the individual killed in a triple-shooting incident. The man, identified as Jose Jesus Gonzalez Jr., 34, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a hospital. He was one of three people wounded during a shooting that occurred Friday morning at Nations Tobin Park in Northeast El Paso, confirmed Detective Judy Oviedo on Monday, June 23rd according to a police news release.

Two of the injured individuals were transported to hospitals following the incident at Nations Tobin Park, located at 8831 Railroad Drive. The other two victims, Jacob Mathew Gonzalez, 22, and Ethan Alexander Ramos, also 22, are currently listed as survivors. Details regarding their medical condition were not immediately released.

Gonzalez and one of the other injured men were discovered to be related, specifically brothers, based on information from a GoFundMe page established by Gonzalez’s sibling for funeral assistance. The page also indicated that the third injured person, Ramos, was Gonzalez’s cousin. The sibling’s statement expressed profound grief, stating the family was unprepared to bury a loved one so young and highlighting Gonzalez’s role as a father figure to four children and his partner expecting a child.

A 22-year-old El Paso resident, Robert Joseph Privett, has been formally charged with murder in connection with Gonzalez’s death. The shooting took place in a red vehicle that subsequently crashed into a tree within the park grounds. Investigators have not yet publicly disclosed a possible motive for this violent act, which occurred on June 20th, 2025.

The Crimes Against Persons Unit detectives swiftly identified Privett as the suspect following the incident. The investigation led to his arrest before the end of the week.
