Kayla Mitchell, 32, was one of three individuals found dead inside a Bryant home early Sunday morning, marking a devastating triple homicide that shocked the local community.
The deadly incident unfolded around 7:30 a.m. at a residence located on Lena Drive. Police discovered Kayla along with her mother, 55-year-old Monica Jennings, and either her father or stepfather, 63-year-old Michael Jennings, all suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Authorities have arrested Kayla’s brother, 34-year-old Jarrod Mitchell, in connection with the killings. He was taken into custody later that afternoon by Bryant police and Saline County deputies and is being held on a $2 million bond.
According to police reports, Kayla and the other victims were all closely related to Jarrod, and officers are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the deadly shooting.
