Family members, including relatives like Marvin Walker Jr., who is listed as the boy’s uncle on a fundraising page, have described Amir as a bright light in their lives. He was noted as a joyful and loving child whose laughter had a unique way of uplifting everyone he encountered. Walker Jr. emphasized that losing him has created an irreplaceable void.

The incident happened on June 23, 2025, at Folwell Park in Minneapolis. According to the city’s police department, officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:08 p.m. A good Samaritan, who happened to be driving by, spotted the injured child and took immediate action. This person then drove the child to the hospital, where medical personnel, including a responding police lieutenant, began life-saving efforts on the spot. Despite these heroic measures, Amir did not survive.
Walker Jr. shared that Amir’s older brother was the first to notice the shooting and carried his injured sibling in search of help. Upon finding a compassionate stranger, they sought assistance, but unfortunately, medical aid arrived too late to save the boy. The account details the heartbreaking reality of the event.
