Fatal Louisville river death of Derrick Deion Saunders, Jr.
Rescue and recovery personnel located a body within the Ohio River on June 25th, positioned just south of the Greenwood Boat Ramp. According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson John Bradley, this finding “appears to be the body of a teenage male.”
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office secured custody of the remains and subsequently released identifying details to the public following notification of the family. The individual was confirmed as Derrick Deion Saunders, Jr., aged 13, who resided in Louisville. The coroner’s office attributed the cause of death to accidental drowning.
The operation was conducted by LMPD’s River Unit and Dive Team.
