Fatal Harvard area drowning death of Nancy Prepura
Nancy Prepura, 77, of Harvard, was identified by the McHenry County coroner on Wednesday as the woman who tragically lost her life following an incident at her home, authorities confirmed.
0-3The incident occurred Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:15 p.m. near Harvard, in the 10900 block of White Oaks Road, when emergency crews responded to reports of a woman discovered unresponsive in an outdoor pool. Fire officials and paramedics arrived to find Prepura without a pulse and immediately began resuscitation efforts, later cancelling the medical helicopter as she was pronounced dead at the scene .
738-0The McHenry County Coroner’s Office has not yet released preliminary autopsy results. Toxicology reports are pending as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the suspected drowning .
979-0The Harvard Fire Protection District and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office are both involved in the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not indicated any signs of foul play at this time .
Friends and neighbors describe Prepura as a kind and cherished member of her community, saying her absence will be deeply felt. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
