Fatal downtown Greenville sidewalk death of Tyrus Hennon Grier
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office released additional details Thursday after Tyrus Hennon Grier, a 60-year-old man, was discovered deceased on a sidewalk in the heart of downtown Greenville on Wednesday. The man, identified as Grier, was found near the post office, roughly a block away from the Miracle Hill Rescue Mission, and was reported to be homeless. According to authorities, the initial report of Grier’s body came following a call indicating cardiac arrest, with no apparent signs of violence. The medical examiner’s office confirmed Grier was located in a nearby grassy area and was thought to have been in a state of rest before the time of death. It remains uncertain whether Grier had connections to the local or cooling shelter system prior to his passing. A comprehensive autopsy and subsequent toxicology analysis are scheduled to examine the circumstances surrounding his demise.
