Officials from the Horry County Coroner’s Office revealed that 41-year-old Ashley Todd from Conway was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the impact. The investigation indicates she was crossing the highway westbound when the accident occurred around 11:10 p.m. local time.
The responding crews reported that a 2015 Honda SUV, traveling north on the roadway, collided with the pedestrian. Fortunately, the driver of the SUV suffered no injuries in the incident. Horry County Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the location and provided aid before the arrival of medical professionals.
Statewide law enforcement, including the South Carolina Highway Patrol, stated that the SUV was moving in the northbound direction when it made contact with the individual. Trooper Brandon Bolt emphasized that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road in the westbound lane at the time of the crash.
