The Leon County Sheriff’s Office reported Wiley’s death occurred within the Leon County Detention Facility, and this event transpired two months after his arrest on charges of second-degree murder related to the 2023 incident. According to the investigation, Wiley is accused of killing his daughter on June 1, 2023, in Thomas County, Georgia, and subsequently disposing of her remains in a forested region the following day.
Investigators revealed that authorities were notified when Wiley failed to return home, leading to an official report of his daughter as missing on June 3, 2023. The probe involved extensive interviews and inquiries across multiple states, spanning nearly a year, before inconsistencies in Wiley’s initial explanation emerged, prompting deeper scrutiny.
Forensic analysis uncovered a smartphone belonging to Wiley that contained internet search history involving remote, water-accessible areas in Alabama and Georgia, among other topics.
