Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the individual responsible for a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 62-year-old man in Manchester Square on Friday evening. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 9:12 p.m.

Initial reports indicate that a light-colored sport utility vehicle, likely white, was traveling north along Western Avenue when it collided with a pedestrian crossing the street outside a designated crosswalk at 83rd Street. The LAPD noted that the vehicle involved did not stop to assist or remain at the scene as required by law. It was last observed moving northbound on Western Avenue, departing from the vicinity of 83rd Street.

Police authorities have not yet released a detailed description of the suspect or indicated whether factors such as speeding or impairment were under consideration. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, they confirmed that the individual, identified as 62-year-old Danny Etis, had been pronounced dead upon arrival.

The LAPD has issued a reminder to drivers that they are legally obligated to pull over safely after an accident, alert emergency services, and wait at the scene. In addition to this, the department has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for any information leading to the identification, capture, conviction, or civil resolution of the suspect.
