Fatal Iowa County tractor accident death of John “Lee” O’Flahrity
Iowa County is now providing the name of the individual who lost his life in a serious farm equipment mishap that took place over the weekend. The man involved was identified as John “Lee” O’Flahrity, a 71-year-old resident of Janesville. He was reported to be managing a tractor that had a specialized attachment for trimming vegetation when the unfortunate incident occurred on an incline.
During the operation, the tractor unfortunately slid down the slope, leading to a flip, and Mr. O’Flahrity was unfortunately trapped underneath the machinery. The exact timing of this tragedy was around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, as it happened late in the afternoon.
Emergency services, including the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, were notified and responded promptly. Joined by the Highland Volunteer Fire Department, the Cobb Volunteer Fire Department, any available first responders, and Highland EMS Units, they all converged at the accident site. They coordinated their efforts to offer medical assistance, but despite their rapid and dedicated actions, Mr. O’Flahrity was confirmed deceased at the location by the Iowa County Coroners Office. This confirmation came after their attempts to save the victim were unfortunately unsuccessful.
