Approximately at 5:20 p.m., a 2005 Ford SUV that was in transit eastbound near mile marker 26 lost control and veered off the road, subsequently hitting a person who was standing on the side of the road. According to the troopers involved in the investigation, the pedestrian did not survive the impact and was pronounced deceased at the location.

Further details reveal that the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the deceased as Mary Lynn Carter, a 41-year-old woman from Clinton. This identification provides closure to the ongoing probe, but the focus remains on understanding the causes behind this tragic event to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
