Law enforcement in the North York region has officially confirmed the identity of the man who was killed in a stabbing incident that took place at a local shelter. This event unfolded during the early part of the week, prompting a full police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Beverley Hills Drive, which is situated near Highway 400, on a Sunday afternoon approximately one hour after midday. Their arrival was due to reports of a violent assault involving sharp objects.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found two individuals suffering from serious injuries caused by stabbing. One of the victims, a man named Roger Borges who was 53 years old, was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately did not survive his wounds. He is now recognized as the seventeenth homicide victim in Toronto for the year 2025.
The surviving individual, who was 51 years of age, was also taken to a medical center for treatment. Meanwhile, authorities secured a 72-year-old suspect, identified as Jose Diaz of Toronto, at the location. He has been formally charged with two grave offenses: first-degree murder and an attempt to murder.
