Fatal San Leandro shooting death of Ryan M. Christie
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has officially identified the individual who was killed in San Leandro’s initial homicide case of the year. This 47-year-old resident, Ryan M. Christie, was pronounced deceased at the scene after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound.
Investigators are actively seeking the person responsible for this tragic incident, which occurred earlier this month. The victim was discovered on the morning of June 14, still holding onto his dog’s leash, according to preliminary reports from authorities.
Located in San Leandro, the incident transpired near Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street. On the night of June 13, a nearby witness informed law enforcement that they heard a gunshot around 11:15 p.m. It is believed that Mr. Christie was the target at that time and remained undiscovered until the following day.
Medical examiners have confirmed that the fatal injury was a gunshot wound to the posterior area. Fortunately, the dog accompanying him at the time was not harmed, though it continued to remain attached to its owner’s hand.
This event represents the first homicide recorded in San Leandro during 2025. Details surrounding the motive remain undisclosed by officials, and no arrests have been announced as the probe continues.
Mr. Christie left behind a family consisting of his spouse and offspring. To support his relatives, a verified fundraising campaign has been established on behalf of the Christie household.
