Investigators from the Louisiana State Police have confirmed that a young woman from Prairieville has tragically lost her life in a nighttime collision within Ascension Parish. The incident occurred along Louisiana Highway 22.
Details of the accident indicate that the victim, identified as 21-year-old Shelby Molea, was driving her vehicle eastbound on this road at approximately 12:40 a.m. on June 27th. According to the preliminary findings, she encountered a situation where she was unable to properly handle the curve, resulting in the car veering off the road to the right and landing in a ditch.
The vehicle subsequently turned over in the ditch. Autopsy reports later confirmed that Ms. Molea was not secured with a seatbelt, which likely contributed to her being thrown from the car. Medical examiners pronounced her death at the scene. State Police have stated that they are conducting a toxicology examination to rule out any potential substance involvement.
This incident is currently under investigation by law enforcement officials.
