A private investigator and a bounty hunter face murder charges after a fatal shooting occurred in the Old East Dallas area. The incident happened on Thursday morning.

DALLAS – Authorities have indicted a bounty hunter and a private investigator on murder charges concerning a deadly shooting in the Old East Dallas neighborhood. The victim in this case is 33-year-old Drew Knowles.

According to the Dallas Police Department, 43-year-old Rodney Brown and 23-year-old Jorge Moncivais are now formally charged with the murder. Both men are being held in the Dallas County jail facility.

A $500,000 bond has been established for Jorge Moncivais.

Further, the victim, 33-year-old Drew Knowles, has been confirmed. His family members, residing in Arkansas, contacted FOX 4 on Friday to share a photo of Drew. The family was informed of his death on Friday morning.

Dallas County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed to FOX 4 that Knowles had two outstanding warrants: one concerning theft charges from Dallas Police and another involving credit card misuse from Carrollton.

Attempts by FOX 4 to contact the private security enterprise, Code Three Investigation and Security, which employs both Brown and Moncivais, were unsuccessful as the company ignored all calls and emails.

The Sequence of Events:
The fatal shooting transpired on Thursday morning in Old East Dallas, positioned east of the downtown district.

Legal documents from police indicate that Brown operates as a licensed bounty hunter and Moncivais functions as a licensed private investigator.

The two individuals were attempting to serve warrants on Knowles. They utilized automated license plate readers to ascertain Knowles’s vehicle was located in the 2700 block of Florence Street.

Both bounty hunters were situated in separate cars and observed Knowles seated inside his parked vehicle. Moncivais maneuvered his car to block Knowles’s parked vehicle while Brown pulled up behind it. Police records reveal Brown exited his car, drawing a firearm, as he approached Knowles’s car.

Knowles shifted his car into reverse, colliding with Brown’s vehicle before driving off.

Subsequently, Brown and Moncivais opened fire multiple times at Knowles’s vehicle. Knowles sustained injuries to his right triceps and twice to his right upper back.

Before losing control, Knowles drove away and crashed his vehicle into a utility pole near the Cantegral and Live Oak streets intersection.
