Fatal Sugar Land car crash death of Ibrahim Mohammed
Sugar Land police announced two arrests in connection with a fatal collision that authorities link to street racing. The incident led to the death of Ibrahim Mohammed, a 32-year-old newlywed.
Investigators stated that Ibrahim Mohammed was driving on Highway 6 in the vicinity of Voss around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday when another driver, involved in a street racing incident, collided with his vehicle. The victim, who had recently tied the knot, was found deceased at the scene.
The arrested individuals are Roman Pollock, aged 20, and Kamran Kamran, aged 26. Both have been formally charged with manslaughter.
According to reports, Roman Pollock was operating a Ford Mustang at the time of the crash and his car struck Mohammed’s Toyota Camry. Investigators mentioned that Pollock remained at the accident site and was subsequently transported to the hospital, along with two other individuals present.
Separately, Kamran was identified as the driver of a BMW involved in the street racing activity leading up to the crash. However, he abandoned the scene.
Police located the BMW on Tuesday following a description provided by a witness, leading to Kamran’s arrest at his place of employment. In addition to the manslaughter charge, he is also facing a count of failure to stop and render aid.
The news of the fatal accident has deeply affected the customers and colleagues at the technology repair business where Ibrahim worked. His employer, Jahanzaib Lakhani, expressed that the clientele were loyal and that the sudden loss would significantly impact operations.
Mr. Lakhani shared that Ibrahim originated from India and had relocated to the Houston area just two years prior on an H-1B visa to pursue employment with a technology company. He noted that Ibrahim was let go under unspecified circumstances but was quickly employed at his store.
The tragedy struck shortly before the victim’s planned move into his new residence. Lakhani recalled that Ibrahim had only recently gotten married and was set to take possession of his apartment on the 24th.
A nearby business owner, Habib Ahmad, remembered Ibrahim as a pleasant and kind-hearted person, adding that the community would mourn his passing.
Roman Pollock has been released from detention on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 4. Kamran is currently being held without bail at a considerable sum of $500,000.
