Young man Abdiwali Isaak, age 18, dies in fatal Columbus shooting
Columbus law enforcement officials are actively seeking information regarding a deadly shooting that occurred on the city’s southwest side. Responding officers arrived at the scene located at the 800 block of Avonia Drive shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, emergency medical technicians discovered three individuals injured as a result of the incident. Paramedics from the Columbus, Franklin Township, and Prairie Township fire departments provided medical assistance and transported all three people to nearby medical facilities.
One of those transported, identified as 18-year-old Abdiwali Isaak, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other two victims, whose ages and identities are not specified, are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. Hospital officials have not released immediate updates on the condition of the two other individuals.
Crime investigators are examining the incident to determine the reasons behind the shooting and identify any individuals connected to the event. Authorities are asking for any visual recordings from the Avonia Drive vicinity between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on June 28, 2025, to be submitted by scanning the provided QR code.
