A fatal collision on Interstate 30 in Arlington, Texas, claimed the life of a 19-year-old man, and authorities arrested a 33-year-old woman in connection with the incident.
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, Angel Alonso was the individual involved in the crash. Brittani Watkins, identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck Alonso, was apprehended by police. Suspicion arose that Watkins may have been under the influence.
Officials reported that the accident occurred around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday near Baird Farm Road. Alonso had exited his truck and was attempting to use his cell phone to illuminate the area and guide traffic away from the scene when Watkins crashed into him and his vehicle.
Alonso did not survive the impact. Both Watkins and her passenger were transported to a medical facility for evaluation.
While Watkins is currently charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), law enforcement stated that further charges are under consideration.
