Fatal La Vergne car crash death of Angela Dawn Loupe

The unfortunate passing of La Vergne, Tennessee’s Angela Dawn Loupe has been officially linked to a catastrophic traffic collision occurring recently on I-24 East. The Rutherford County school system, which employed the individual formally accused in this tragic incident, has confirmed that he was employed there.

La Vergne (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Police Department has formally accused a 28-year-old man named John Baudendistel with causing death by driving while intoxicated. This serious accusation relates to the fatal accident that occurred on I-24 East near the Bell Road exit ramp on Sunday morning. Baudendistel is identified as the driver of a Nissan Rogue involved in a multi-vehicle accident.

It is believed that two other cars were involved in the initial collision, and they subsequently departed from the scene. The surviving vehicle struck by Baudendistel’s car was being operated by the deceased, Angela Loupe, who was from Murfreesboro. According to available reports, officers at the scene observed that the driver, John Baudendistel, showed signs of intoxication during questioning. He confessed to consuming alcohol prior to the time he got behind the wheel, and police documented evidence of an open container of alcohol located in the central storage compartment of his vehicle.

Rutherford County Schools officials have confirmed Baudendistel’s position within their organization, noting he served as the band director at La Vergne Middle School since August 2023. The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.

Further details regarding the incident were provided later. Detectives investigating the case believe the crash began with two other vehicles colliding. They report that the 51-year-old woman, Angela Dawn Loupe, slowed her vehicle (a Nissan Sentra) to actively avoid the impact. This action placed her directly into the path of Baudendistel’s car, causing a direct rear-end collision. It is further believed that the other drivers involved in the initial contact were also impaired by alcohol at the time of the accident.

After posting sufficient bail, John Baudendistel was released from the Metropolitan Detention Center on Sunday evening. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 8th. This ongoing investigation continues to examine all aspects of this devastating traffic incident.
