Law enforcement officials confirmed that a man is being held in connection with a stabbing that proved fatal. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office released this statement.

Early morning authorities were dispatched to a stabbing that happened at around 2:16 a.m. on Sunday, June 29th. The location was a house near the 6000 block of N. Bentsen Palm Drive in rural Mission.

When emergency responders arrived, they found 49-year-old Armando Giovannotto with serious injuries from being stabbed multiple times, as reported by the HSCO.

Witnesses later identified the man suspected of the attack as the victim’s domestic partner, 34-year-old Kevin Lee Gutierrez. According to reports, Gutierrez had departed the area before the deputies arrived.

Approximately four hours later, at 4:55 a.m., deputies located Gutierrez at a residence in La Joya and made an arrest without any issues arising.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medical staff noted he had self-inflicted cuts on his wrists, and he is currently being held under security measures.
