Fatal Accomack County car crash death of Gina Alvarez Dela Cruz
Virginia state police are investigating a fatal road incident on Virginia Route 13 in Accomack County. This serious accident, which occurred just before noon on Monday, June 30th, resulted in one person losing their life and several others requiring medical attention.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene near Parks Road after reports of a major collision. According to authorities, a Subaru Impreza crossed over the center line and collided directly with a Toyota minivan traveling northbound.
Gina Alvarez Dela Cruz, a 42-year-old from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was a passenger in the minivan. She was transported to a local hospital but unfortunately did not survive her severe injuries. Seven other individuals inside the minivan sustained injuries, ranging from moderate to critical.
The driver of the minivan, Leobert Samon Dela Cruz, aged 43 and also from Stroudsburg, sustained serious injuries during the head-on impact.
Separately, the driver of the Subaru Impreza suffered critical injuries in the crash and was also airlifted to a medical facility.
Virginia State Police reported that Route 13 was completely closed due to the extensive damage and investigation. Traffic officials worked to manage the situation and provide updates as the investigation continued.
