Jackson Hunter dies in fatal Nashville car crash
Fatal Nashville car crash death of Jackson Hunter
Nashville officials announced that a section of Thompson Lane/Briley Parkway was shut down on Sunday afternoon because of a deadly traffic accident involving a driver going too fast who ran a red light. The Tennessee Department of Transportation initially reported that Briley Parkway had been blocked in both directions at the East Thompson Lane and Southlake Drive intersection after the collision.
However, TDOT’s SmartWay map indicated that a multi-car crash at 2:47 p.m. had closed the eastbound and westbound lanes on State Route 155 (Thompson Lane) near Mashburn Road.
A separate story about a drive-by shooting in the Napier area was featured in an advertisement.
The Metro Nashville Police Department informed local media later in the afternoon that one person had died at the scene of the incident. At 4:15 p.m., police stated on the X platform that an accident causing a fatality was under investigation on Briley Parkway at E. Thompson Lane, adding that TDOT was helping with traffic control and urged drivers to find alternative routes.
Law enforcement lifted the roadblock after 6:45 p.m. once the probe was finished.
In the evening, officials released information identifying the deceased as Jackson Hunter, aged 47 and from Watertown, who died in the two-vehicle accident at Thompson Lane and Southlake Drive around 2:40 p.m. Investigators suggested that Hunter was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado at excessive speed in an eastern direction on Thompson Lane/Briley Parkway when he crossed into the path of a Honda Accord, which had the green light at the junction.
