A coworker identified the deceased employee of Memphis Rox who was killed in Soulsville on Sunday. The victim was employed at the climbing gym and his passing was confirmed by a workmate. This tragic incident occurred during a shooting on the city’s east side.
Jarmond Johnson, an employee at Memphis Rox, met his demise on Sunday afternoon after a dispute escalated into a deadly confrontation. The confrontation proved fatal for the gym staff member, highlighting the sudden turn of events that unfolded.
Police were dispatched to 879 East McLemore Avenue, the location of Memphis Rox Climbing, at approximately 4:13 PM for a shooting-related incident. The address is in the Soulsville area of Memphis, as reported by emergency services.
When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered one individual deceased from gunshot wounds. A second person was transported to the hospital in critical condition due to injuries sustained in the incident. Regrettably, that individual later passed away, making this a double fatality.
According to law enforcement, one person was held in custody following the shooting. The detained individual is currently being processed by the authorities.
In response to the tragedy, Memphis Rox stated they will be closed for a week. This closure affects the climbing community and the local business operations.
