Law enforcement authorities announced that charges have been brought against a man concerning the death of a missing woman. Pennsylvania State Police reported that a man was arrested on Sunday in Columbia County, facing multiple accusations tied to the disappearance case that ultimately led to a death.
State police indicated that this arrest was the result of a major ongoing investigation by the Troop N Major Case Team, working closely with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office. The man, identified as Vincent Lloyd Harp, 39, from Bloomsburg, was taken into custody peacefully. He is facing charges of criminal homicide and other related offenses, connected to the death of 33-year-old Katlyn Harp.
Mr. Harp appeared before a judge, where his arraignment took place. Bail was denied, and he was transferred to the Columbia County Correctional Facility. State police also acknowledged the community’s support, thanking people who provided tips via social media or emergency calls.
On Sunday, the Columbia County Coroner’s Office disclosed details from the investigation. Coroner Jeremy R. Reese was dispatched to a wooded area along Harp Lane in Montour Township to examine a death scene. After reviewing the evidence with state police, he confirmed that the remains discovered at 3:30 p.m. that day were those of Katlyn Harp.
Officials confirmed that the cause of death is still pending a forensic autopsy, set for June 30th. While the method of death is also under investigation and not yet confirmed, Coroner Reese stated that preliminary observations and evidence at the site suggest the death was a homicide. The Coroner’s Office expressed condolences to Katlyn Harp’s family and friends, noting that no additional information will be released until after the scheduled autopsy and further investigation results are available.
