State highway patrol officials confirmed that one person was killed in a collision involving a pedestrian within Lincoln County.
The incident transpired on North Carolina Highway 27, located near the area of Long Circle, at roughly 7 a.m. on the prior Saturday.
Law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene and determined that a 2013 Toyota Sienna, which was proceeding eastward, had collided with an individual who was walking.
The person struck by the vehicle was 73-year-old Maudie Rhinehart, and she did not survive the impact, passing away at the location of the accident. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 29-year-old Amanda Lynn Allen, sustained no injuries in the event.
Investigators have concluded that neither speeding nor impairment played a role in causing the crash. Reports indicated that Maudie Rhinehart was wearing dark clothing while walking on a road that lacked lighting.
According to the troopers, no charges will be pursued regarding this incident.
