Officials reported a tragic event on a Sunday afternoon in Saunders County, where a woman from Lincoln lost her life and two other individuals sustained injuries in a collision. The incident occurred along Highway 79, approximately two miles north of the town of Prague, and was met with a swift response from authorities.
Investigators detailed that a 25-year-old woman, identified as Rebekah Guilford, was operating a gray Honda Civic when she drove north on the highway. She crossed the center line, attempted to correct her path, and subsequently collided head-on with a black Lincoln MKZ, which was moving south. This impact resulted in the immediate death of Guilford at the scene.
Emergency personnel worked to remove the driver of the Lincoln, a 45-year-old man named Enereo Cervantes from Columbus, and transported him to a nearby medical facility with multiple injuries. A passenger in the same vehicle also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital. The use of seat belts was noted, and there were no indications of alcohol involvement in the crash.
