The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division announced Monday that it is examining an incident involving law enforcement officers in Aiken County. Aiken County deputies were sent to a location with reports of a forced entry around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 800 block of Old Barnwell Road. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man equipped with a large knife and a firearm, and they fired on him, later identifying the individual as Aaron Stevenson, who was 39 years old. Paramedics provided urgent medical attention and transported him to a regional hospital. No deputies suffered any injuries during this event.
Two adolescents have been taken into custody by authorities in connection with a violent altercation on a highway that resulted in harm to two people on Sunday afternoon, as reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. This situation unfolded on Interstate 20.
