Fatal Newburg shooting death of Achilles Seward

A family now faces an unbearable tragedy following the death of 16-year-old Achilles Seward. His mother, Kindre Seward, shared the immense sorrow felt by the family this past week.

The younger Seward’s life was tragically ended last Monday evening on Ridgecrest Road. Authorities confirmed he was pronounced dead at the scene. His sister Makia Seward explained he had been out with friends prior to the incident.

Described as surreal, the loss left the family reeling. Makia expressed shock over the suddenness of the event and pleaded for anyone with information to step forward. “Someone out there knows what happened to my brother and they’re not saying nothing,” she stated. “We need justice for him. We need somebody in jail for it, for sure.”

Those who knew Achilles remember him as vibrant, sociable, and thoughtful. Described as a “bright star,” he was known to light up any room he entered. His loved ones highlighted his intelligence and confident demeanor.

“No one should have to endure this kind of pain. I never knew there could be such a void left behind,” Kindre Seward shared. “A piece of me is gone and won’t be coming back.”

The Louisville Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues investigating. Anyone with potential information is urged to contact the anonymous Crime Tip Hotline at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or use the LMPD Crime Tip Portal online.

In memory of Achilles Seward, a fundraising page has been created to support his family during this difficult time.
