Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the demise of Cortney Jackson, a 33-year-old woman from Jackson, who passed away due to several bullet injuries in Clinton. This incident is being treated as a homicide.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Northside Drive at about 10 a.m. on Monday morning, situated close to the The Briars Apartments, where they encountered the tragic event. Police officers at the site were examining expended cartridge shells and had removed a vehicle from the area, which showed indications of being struck by bullets on the side intended for the driver.
The medical examiner for Hinds County, Jeramiah Howard, officially stated that Cortney Jackson was killed by multiple shots fired from a firearm. According to information released by Clinton city officials, a severe disagreement among a number of individuals preceded the fatal shooting.
By the following Tuesday, two persons chose to hand themselves over to the Clinton police without being forced to do so, and they were placed in police interview rooms for questioning.
