Fatal Boone County semi crash death of Donald Ruf
WIFR reports that Donald Ruf, a 63-year-old from Belvidere, has been identified as the individual struck and killed by a large truck on a significant east-west road near a residential area in the county.
A television news outlet provided video evidence of the incident at the time of initial reporting. Boone County’s official medical examiner has formally confirmed Mr. Ruf’s identity, stating that official post-mortem examination results indicate his passing was directly caused by trauma sustained during the collision with the commercial vehicle.
The accident took place early on a Saturday morning, the 28th day of June, approximately ten hours after the start of the day. The large truck operator suffered no physical harm and remained at the accident site until emergency services and investigators completed their evaluations.
Local law enforcement agencies are currently examining the circumstances surrounding this serious traffic incident.
