Jakari Simmons Ross dies in fatal Pineville shooting
Fatal Pineville shooting death of Jakari Simmons Ross
The Berkeley County Coroner has officially identified the man killed in a June shooting incident in the Pineville area.
Jakari Simmons Ross, an 18-year-old, passed away Thursday, according to Coroner Darnell D. Hartwell.
Berkeley County police indicate they are investigating this death as a homicide.
Deputies reported that a 16-year-old male is facing charges including murder, weapon possession during violent crime, armed robbery, unlawful firearm carrying, and firearm theft.
A law enforcement spokesperson stated that responding officers arrived at Gabe Road around 4:30 p.m. on June 19 for a vehicle collision. Subsequent investigations revealed the crash was caused by gunfire.
The driver, identified as the deceased, was found inside the damaged car and succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
