Fatal Lynn County car crash death of Jonathan Torres
Lubbock authorities have confirmed the identity of a man who passed away following a serious collision involving a van and a large truck. The incident happened in Lynn County.
Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of US 380 and FM 179 around noon on Friday. Initial reports indicated a head-on crash between a passenger van and a semi-trailer truck. The first responders noted the van was heading northbound on FM 179 when it approached the junction.
The large truck, which was pulling a trailer, was traveling along US 380. The van crossed into its path, resulting in a collision with the truck. The driver of the van, identified as Jonathan Torres, did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Torres was 29 years old and a Lubbock resident.
The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered only minor injuries during the impact and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in Tahoka. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
