Fatal Indianapolis shooting death of Kenneth Lyles
A 31-year-old man known as Kenneth Lyles lost his life in a violent attack on the east side of Indianapolis on Saturday, as confirmed by police sources.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent out around 9 a.m. to East 42nd Street and Mitthoefer Road due to gunfire reports. Upon their arrival, a car thought to be involved in the incident took off, leading to a pursuit that ended when the vehicle collided with an ambulance near 16th Street.
Two people from that car were arrested and are now regarded as the perpetrators of the shooting.
At the initial scene, law enforcement discovered two people injured by bullets. A short time afterward, a third person was identified as a victim.
It was confirmed that Kenneth Lyles was one of the two individuals who ultimately died from their wounds.
Officials noted that the third person is still being treated in the hospital in critical but stable health.
IMPD investigators reported that two suspects are in custody, and there is no immediate risk to the public during the ongoing investigation.
