Fatal Albemarle shooting deaths of Lucio Carranco and Jesus Carranco

Two men were killed Monday evening in Albemarle, North Carolina, following a deadly shooting that police say was the result of a domestic dispute.

 

Officers with the Albemarle Police Department responded around 5:35 p.m. to a home on Amhurst Street. Upon arrival, they found 33-year-old Lucio Carranco and 34-year-old Jesus Carranco both deceased inside the residence.

 

Authorities arrested 23-year-old Alex Meras at the scene. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder in connection to the incident.

 

Investigators say the shooting was preceded by a domestic altercation, but additional information about the circumstances leading up to the violence has not been released.

The investigation into the double homicide remains active.
