A 17-year-old high school student from the Portland area has died following a serious fall during a hike. The incident occurred at Falls Creek Falls near Carson, Washington.

Officials confirmed that Natalie Hoffberger, who was in her senior year at Nelson High School, fell approximately 30 feet into a creek while hiking. She was promptly rescued and airlifted to a nearby hospital via helicopter emergency service. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at the medical facility.

School officials expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Natalie as a thoughtful and caring student. Principal Greg Harris stated that the entire school community is mourning her absence.
