**Timothy Lloyd Oates Dies in Fatal Gold Coast Assault**
**Fatal Gold Coast Assault Death of Timothy Lloyd Oates**
A 28-year-old man from Brisbane, Nathan James Lawrance, faces charges after Timothy Lloyd Oates, a 44-year-old man, sustained fatal head injuries following an alleged attack. Lawrance has been held without bail.
Lawrance, from the Stafford Heights area, was not scheduled to appear in court today. Authorities claim he attacked Oates at a Southport property around 9:30 PM Saturday, leading to Oates’ death the following morning.
Legal counsel for Lawrance indicated no request for bail would be filed due to the seriousness of the allegations. Emergency services responded to reports of an unresponsive individual in a vehicle on Beale Street shortly after the assault, transporting Oates to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he passed away.
Lawrance was arrested and formally charged with murder. Court records also indicate charges of methamphetamine possession along with drug paraphernalia and a small firearm. His defense has requested a two-week adjournment, which was granted pending a future court date set for July 22nd.
Lawrance has requested legal aid representation, and the case will proceed via video link. Police are encouraging anyone with information to contact authorities.
