Fatal McDowell County car crash death of Christopher Corn
On the evening of Monday, June 30th, 2025, a significant road incident occurred in McDowell County. Christopher Corn, identified as a resident of Nebo, North Carolina, tragically lost his life in this event. The specifics of this fatal occurrence were detailed by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The collision took place along US Route 221 South, near the boundary between McDowell and Rutherford Counties. According to reports, the incident happened at approximately 7:37 p.m. Involving two vehicles, the crash began when a 2025 Honda Pilot, with its registration linked to Fasan Dayo from New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, tried to pass several vehicles ahead of it while moving south. Dayo’s attempt to overtake resulted in the Honda Pilot not successfully returning to the correct lane before colliding head-on with a 2024 Toyota GR86 that was traveling north.
The northbound driver of the Toyota was Jacob McKinney, another Nebo resident. Following the impact, the force of the collision pushed the Toyota off the roadway. Christopher Corn, who was a passenger in the struck vehicle, received injuries that proved fatal. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.
Jacob McKinney, the driver of the Toyota, sustained serious injuries and was evacuated by air ambulance to Mission Hospital for treatment. Inside the Honda Pilot, the occupants faced a grim outcome. Both Fasan Dayo, the driver, and his passenger, Katherine Jennings from Marion, were also pronounced dead at the location where they were found.
Multiple emergency services were dispatched to the scene. Responders included local Emergency Medical Services units from McDowell and Rutherford Counties, along with fire departments from Glenwood and Union Mills. The full extent of the accident is currently under investigation by the authorities.
