Fatal McDowell County car crash death of Fasan Dayo
A severe two-car collision on Monday evening resulted in the death of Fasan Dayo. The incident occurred on US-221 South near the border between McDowell and Rutherford Counties.
Fasan Dayo, a resident of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, lost his life in the serious accident that took place on June 30, 2025. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 7:37 p.m.
According to information provided by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Dayo was driving a white 2025 Honda Pilot southbound when he tried to pass multiple vehicles. During the maneuver, Dayo’s car failed to re-enter the correct lane and crashed head-on into a northbound black 2024 Toyota GR86, which was being driven by Jacob McKinney of Nebo.
The intense collision forced Dayo’s vehicle off the road and caused it to overturn. First responders pronounced Fasan Dayo and his passenger, Katherine Jennings from Marion, dead at the scene.
This tragic event also claimed the life of Christopher Corn, another occupant of the Toyota GR86 from Nebo. The driver of the Toyota, Jacob McKinney, suffered significant injuries and was airlifted to Mission Hospital for urgent medical care.
Emergency services involved in the response included McDowell EMS, Rutherford County EMS, Glenwood Fire Department, Union Mills Fire Department, and McDowell County Rescue. The Highway Patrol has confirmed that they are actively investigating this incident.
