The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has shared further clarification regarding the deadly accident from Tuesday that led to the demise of a Huntsville Public Works employee and left two other city staff members harmed.

The incident, a one-automobile mishap, transpired around 1:30 p.m. on U.S. 231 in close proximity to Mountain Valley Road.

According to the authorities, a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe that was driven by Christopher McNeese, the Huntsville Public Works Director, departed the road, turned over, collided with a ditch, and then impacted a tree.

Hornbuckle, who was 44 and serving as a passenger, was ejected from the automobile and was pronounced deceased at the site. The officials reported he had not used a seatbelt.

Mr. McNeese, aged 56, suffered injuries and was taken to Huntsville Hospital for care.

A second occupant, Donnie Dowdy, a 54-year-old individual, was also hurt and conveyed to the same medical facility.

Hornbuckle, besides his employment, was also a contender for the New Hope City Council seat.

“Mr. Hornbuckle embodied the essence of public service, contributing through his professional endeavors, community engagement, and personal integrity. We mourn his passing profoundly and extend our support to his family and associates during this emotionally challenging time,” stated Huntsville City Council President John Meredith.

The collision is currently being examined by the investigating agency.
